Nullarbor Song Cycle
David P Reiter’s latest film celebrates the beauty of the Nullarbor Plain, a vast semi-arid landscape from South into Western Australia that most people try to cross as quickly as possible, if they bother to drive it at all.
Based on an acclaimed poetic sequence published in The Age Monthly, Reiter’s hybrid short film combines still and moving images, spoken word and music to waken the spirit of the place – its history, its mythology, its life forms.
You’ll never think of the Nullarbor in quite the same way.

David P. Reiter
David Reiter is a multi-award-winning author and cross-media artist. His latest titles are the children's novel Tiger Tames the Min Min (2010), the adult novel Primary Instinct (2009) and the how-to (2015).
David's previous films include Hemingway in Spain and Mum: speaking Latin with a singlet tan, a doco on painter Dale Kentwell.
David has been writer-in-residence at a number of places, most recently the KSP Writers Centre in Perth, where work on this film was begun, Bundanon (the Arthur Boyd property), and in Auckland, New Zealand at the Michael King Centre.
David gives talks and workshops here and overseas on the application of new media in the composing and publishing of text and cross-media works.
