Sylvia Petter

Sylvia Petter is Australian, lived in Vienna and now lives in Sydney. Her first collection of short stories, The Past Present, was published in England in 2001, her second, Back Burning, was IP Picks 2007 Best Fiction in Australia and Mercury Blobs 2013, also in Australia. In 2014, her stories were published in German in Geflimmer der Vergangenheit. Her stories have also appeared in several charity anthologies. She was also an editorial member for the collection New Sun Rising: Stories for Japan for the victims of the Fukushima disaster (2011). Her debut novel, All the Beautiful Liars, was published by Eye & Lightning Books, UK, in 2021. She is currently revising her second novel, Ambergris. In 2009, Sylvia received her PhD in Creative Writing from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, and worked at the University of Vienna as Academic Editor at the Institute of Educational Science. She was a member of GAV, fiction editor for Word City Literary Magazine, Canada, and Co-Director Vienna of the 13th International Conference on the Short Story in English.
