Jo Tuscano

Jo Tuscano is an author of fiction and non-fiction.
Her novel The River Child (Odyssey Books) was published in 2022.
Her non-fiction Back on the Block (ASP/AIATSIS) was published in 2009, This Is Where You Have To Go (Pantera Press) was published in 2024, and With What I Have Left (New Holland Press) was published in 2024.
Her work was highly commended at the 2025 Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards, and she has been highly commended at the Grenfell Henry Lawson Writing Competition in the past.
Jo has been published in Westerly, Overland, the Sydney Morning Herald, Women’s Weekly, Marie Claire, Mama Mia media, the New England Review, Stringybark, Spineless Wonders, Newsbite, NSW History Teachers’ Journal, City Hub, The Daily Telegraph and many other publications. Her work was selected and performed by the Voices of Women project in 2019.
Jo is a graduate of the Allen and Unwin Faber course. She has a BA Dip. Ed, Cert TESOL and an MA in Writing.
Jo works as a content creator for imagineer.me. She writes Early Learning programs using a fusion of Western and Aboriginal pedagogy, working with Aboriginal educators.
She is currently working on a trilogy of children’s books, a nonfiction book about the first activists in Alice Springs and her next novel.
