In one of William Blake’s visionary art pieces we see an angel diving down from heaven blowing a trumpet. Wake up! You are lost in your slumber, dreaming your little fears and desires. Rouse yourself to vision, to reality and, as Blake would have it, to the Imagination!

In Zoe’s work we are the beneficiaries of vision and inspiration; in her verses we hear Spirit speaking and “blowing where it listeth” (John 3:8 KJV Bible). Thus there is only one question for us: “Can we be available to this message of the heart?” Can we drop our many stories and listen in a completely open way?

We are not alone in our search; Zoe reminds us of that good companion, the breath, whose ministrations lead us surely to that which we are seeking. Please relax and enjoy this opportunity. This is no ‘New Age’ collection of self-help nostrums. These words come directly from That Which Sustains Us, whether we know it or not.

Beloved, by Zoe Leavitt, is a love letter from the creator to the created. It is an exploration of what it means to be both human and divine, and it follows in the traditions of the mystic writers, paying homage to Rumi and bringing to mind the writings of Khalil Gibran. Zoe’s poetry dwells in a liminal space, existing neither fully in the world nor fully in spirit but bridging the space between the ecstasy of oneness with the divine and the pain of searching for the Beloved in a world that is sometimes dark and cold. This collection of poems and breath-taking images reminds us that we are all closer than we think to beauty, love and peace and all it takes to connect is to ask for connection.

Each verse a signpost for the soul; each image a proclamation our oneness. Their magical fusion a beacon of equanimity – the gift of truth.

Beloved is a wonderful source of inspirational poetry, drawing one towards a quiet contemplation of what is most important in our lives. The beautiful flowing of expression of love between the everyday “outer” being and the true inner soul is an invitation to pause our usual daily scramble and just close our eyes and feel who we really are. Combined with the stunning images of raw Tasmanian nature, it is a place to come to, even briefly, but often.

Zoe Leavitt’s poems come, literally, straight from the heart and ride upon the winds of breath.  They inspired me to remember the one important thing:  breath awakened, takes me back into what can only be called the divinity of the heart, the only place that matters.

Beloved by Zoe Leavitt is a profound exploration of spirituality, healing, and self-discovery. Through accessible and elegant recommendations, Zoe Leavitt cultivates a garden of wisdom that feels both novel and comfortingly familiar. Each insight blooms in tranquil, reflective prose, offering readers an opportunity to nurture their inner selves, selected others, and life itself. This book invites you to tend to your soul at your own pace, finding solace and inspiration as you grow. Readers will find themselves caring for what they want to see grow while comfortably weeding out the rest. This book is your invitation. Embrace the cultivation within.

Zoe poetically describes the process of spiritual awakening. In reading her poems, you can feel the longing for a deeper connection with universal love; it is easy to see how this longing for spiritual connection comforts her and her patients.

As a Vipassana meditator and Clinical Psychologist who went through this spiritual awakening process, I find it easy to resonate with her poems and feel profound awareness talking through them. Indeed, you can see, as Zoe writes, this connection in the silence between your inhale and exhale, in the space beyond your mind, and the vibrant flow of your heart.

I recommend the reader contemplate her poems and words and let them resonate. There will be poems in this beautifully illustrated book that seems to be specially written for you. “Allow yourself to be embraced by consciousness.” So, open up and enjoy.
